Organizations need application portability for flexible development and deployment strategies that can keep up with today’s increasingly unpredictable environments, from natural disasters to rapid ransomware attacks. Organizations that have adopted cloud-native strategies often have an easier time moving applications compared to traditional applications. However, increasing data complexity can still strain network and infrastructure capabilities, causing some organizations to also turn to edge computing in order to ease bandwidth and latency issues. Any data management strategy needs to be carefully planned by skilled workers, yet many organizations don’t have the expertise available to manually manage cloud and edge locations. Limited IT staff, increasing data latency, data compliance regulations, and budgeting can all delay transformation.
