Replicate snapshots for additional protection.
Replicating snapshots to another node running Scale Computing HyperCore provides enhanced disaster recovery. The replicated snapshot acts as a backup and may also be used to failover the VM to the second SC//HyperCore node in the event of primary system or site failure. After failover, a VM may be restored back to the primary system, minimizing downtime. Replication of snapshots only sends changed data blocks after the initial copy of the VM is created on the target system.
Combined with flexible snapshot scheduling, replication provides both efficient use of bandwidth and low RPO/RTO, as needed.
Replicated snapshots enable nearly-instant VM recovery.
In addition to automatic failover within an SC//HyperCore cluster, VMs can be failed over to another SC//HyperCore cluster where their snapshots have been replicated. Failover can happen almost instantly by cloning a replicated snapshot, and the VM can be back online practically before users notice.
When the primary system is back online, VMs can be restored by replicating only the data that is different from the failed over VMs on the target system while those VMs are still live. Then, the VMs can be failed back with very little downtime to users.
