Scale Computing, a developer and manufacturer of scalable, fault-tolerant storage solutions tailored to the virtualisation and disaster recovery needs of the small and medium-sized business (SMB), announced today that they have been shortlisted for two UK industry awards.
The SVC Awards, taking place in early December, has shortlisted Scale Computing for ‘Storage Virtualisation Product of the Year’ for its innovative S-Series, a product which provides affordable enterprise-class storage solutions to the SMB market. The SVC Awards programme aims to reward the products, projects and services as well as honour companies and teams operating in the cloud, virtualisation and storage fields.
Scale Computing has also been shortlisted for the Computer Weekly Social Media awards, for a new category ‘Best IT Video of the Year’. Scale Computing developed a social media “spokesperson” called Scale-Out Steve who has featured in several videos demonstrating the common issues encountered when purchasing storage solutions including limited budgets and emerging technology. The Computer Weekly awards, in association with IBM, invited IT companies to take part in displaying their best uses of social media as an effective tool for communication.
Commenting on the awards, Jeff Ready, co-founder and CEO, said: “Scale Computing has experienced a great deal of success over the past 12 months with record revenues in 2011, new products and development of our growing partner program and we are delighted to be recognised for these awards. Being nominated demonstrates the positive impact our portfolio of storage solution has had on the SMB community. Our use of a social media spokesperson in Scale-Out Steve also exhibits the simplicity and innovation of Scale Computing’s storage solutions.”
Scale Computing has also been shortlisted for the BCS UK IT Industry Awards and was recognised as DCS’ Storage Virtualisation Project of the year in May 2011, for its work with the GEO Foundation.
