Scale Computing, a developer and manufacturer of intelligent, scale-out storage solutions that are tailored to the needs of the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), announces that the TechPoint Mira Awards presented by BKD have chosen Scale Computing to compete for the state’s top technology honors. Scale Computing is competing in the Information Technology Company category, with winners being announced at the Mira Awards Gala being held Saturday, May 7, at the JW Marriott Indianapolis.
The TechPoint Mira Awards recognize excellence and achievement of Indiana’s outstanding technology industry performers and contributors, and focuses attention on the broader issue of the important role technology plays in Indiana’s economy. Scale Computing was chosen to compete in the Information Technology Company category, which consists of companies that sell information technology products or services, develop hardware or software, network and systems integrators, or are part of MIS departments and vendors.
“Narrowing down the field of nominees to just a handful of finalists in each category is always a difficult process for our judges,” said Jim Jay, president and CEO, TechPoint. “We have 32 subject matter experts with diverse backgrounds serving as judges and we are grateful that they value the Mira Awards and sacrifice a significant amount of time to the process.”
Scale’s storage portfolio is based on the company’s Intelligent Clustered Operating System (ICOS) technology, which enables users to add storage hardware, known as storage nodes, as necessary without suspending services or migrating data. Scale’s storage offerings aim to reduce costs while increasing control, as well as make storage management more convenient for IT administrators. Scale builds scale-out, unified storage systems designed with the SME customer in mind: easy-to-manage, easy-to-grow, and fully featured without confusing and costly licensing schemes. With Scale’s intelligent storage, IT managers are able to build out storage clusters, starting with just 1.5 terabytes up to the multiple petabyte range on a single file system using commodity hardware.
“We are honored to be a three-time finalist for the TechPoint Mira Awards,” said Jeff Ready, CEO and founder, Scale Computing. “With Indiana as our company headquarters, we are committed to bringing hundreds of IT jobs to the state and be a huge contributor to the success and longevity of the Indiana tech sector. As the need for affordable data storage and virtualization continues to grow, we expect the need for Scale storage solutions to be in high-demand.”
The 2011 winners will be announced at the Mira Awards Gala being held Saturday, May 7, at the JW Marriott Indianapolis. TechPoint will again honor past Mira Award winners and finalists attending the ceremony with a special “Winner’s Circle” VIP reception.
